Footprints in the Sand...by NMN

Introduction...

Footprints in the Sand is a collection of poetic rhythms and reflections on the Human Condition as seen through the eyes of a teen-ager, who may of relinquished childhood to soon, due to circumstances beyond her control.

The loneliness of youth is best expressed in her poem "The Stranger", in which she writes, "I am an exile where ever I go."

The beliefs of her childhood is still a part of the strength that takes her through the journey of each day, and she finds comfort in that.  In an extraordinary way for a writer of her tender years, she ponders the balances in life in "Contrasts"

There is a universal quality in her perceptions in this collection of early works.  There is a Truth, Wonder, Pain and Faith and above all, the beauty of a very special soul.

So with that....here are the works of this book.  There are not that many of them my friends, but please enjoy and learn.

Anticipation

I am beginning to yearn
for something that is
just around the corner
Every time I look,
It is gone like dust
in the wind

Wind Song

When from the East
The winds sets free the spirit
of the waves with desire,
To sweep over all the West
To reach the land
Where the sun sets
And the Wild, blue-green sea
So violent
Where no mortal man
Survives the wild power
Not Ever.

Captured

The scream of pain deep in my soul
My mind a tortured limb
To keep the present from it's goal
My thoughts I must keep dim

My hands blood red and sweating
Clung desperately to stone
My only touch of reality
my only chance of hope

The knot of fear around my heart
My breath stilled in my chest
Myself and life torn apart
The ending of my quest-

Or perhaps the beginning.....

Journey

I arise today
The the powers that be
With these forces Seven,
Light of the blazing sun
Splendor of the flames run.
Sweetness of the winds song
Deepness of the boundless Sea
The hard Earths stability
Stone-fixed eternally
I arise today
With the Powers strength to pilot me
Through the powers most mighty
Invoke the Lady Trinity,
Confession of ones belief in three
The powers of creation

Essence

What is man
But a savage
Without faith

Just an animal
with no understanding
Of the Soul
Of himself

The Stranger

Why am a stranger
In a outland country
I am an exile
wherever I go
But the hills and stars
are my companions
And all I do,
I do alone

About the Author...

NMN's reflections of the search for life's meaning was created in the hopes that others too, may be searching for their identity early in life.  Searchers are not totally unhappy, but neither are they entirely contented.

They are drawn to walking along lonely beaches, singing sad as well as happy songs, always needing the excitement of the continuing search.

She is a unique poet and artist, often misunderstood and rejected, which causes her to experience deep sadness.  Since sadness is as much a part of life as laughter, she shares her sadness for those who have loved and lost.
